Invisible Finder allows you to find, manage, filter, get info, toggle invisibility and do much more with your invisible files and folders. It will remember the visibility changes done to files and folders and allows you to revert the changes later on. It supports drag and drop and contextual menus. Basic Usage
When invisible Finder is launched it will automatically search your hard drives for invisible files and folders as well as load the files that recently had their visibility changed. Searching your hard drives may take a few moments so be patient as it lists your files. With Invisible Finder 2.0 you no longer need to search your hard drives for each window you open.
Once your invisible files and folders are found a new window is opened which lists them all as well as basic information for each item. Within this window you can filter the found items using the search field in the upper right corner. Using the filter popupmenu you can filter the files by certain criteria. The invisible files list can be sorted in both ascending and descending order by clicking the header of a selected column.
Working With Invisible Files
Invisible Finder allows you to perform various actions on the listed invisible files and folders. By either using the contextual menus or the Actions menu, you can access these features with ease.
Toggle Visibility
Invisible Finder allows you to toggle the visibility of the selected files and folders. When the visibility is changed, the files are listed in the Invisibility Changes window. You can later revert these changes if you need to. Note: Some files, specifically on Mac OS X can not be made visible. There for they will still be listed in the Invisibility Changes window but their visibility status will not change.
Reveal Parent Directory
You can reveal the parent directory of the invisible file or folder buy selecting this option. It will bring the Finder to the front and display the directory that the invisible file is located in.
Open With...
Invisible Finder gives you the ability to open an invisible file in a selected application. This provides the ability to view and edit the contents of the invisible file.
Get Info...
From within Invisible Finder you are able to display the Finder Get Info window so that you can view and edit Finder information which is not directly accessible from within the Finder. Note: Some files can not be made visible on Mac OS X so their Info window can not be displayed. As well, some files can not have an info window and in this case, the info window will not be displayed.
Move To Trash
This option will move the selected invisible files to the trash. Note: It will make the file or folder visible first.
Delete
This option will remove the invisible file from your computer. This option is un-doable and should be used with caution. A warning message is displayed before the file is deleted.
Extended Features
Select File and Select Folder...
This option will allow you to either select a file or a folder and change the visibility of the selected item. The item will then be added to the Invisibility Changes window.
Saving File lists...
Invisible Finder allows you to save the list of invisible files and folders in a selected format. By going to File->Save File List, a new window will be displayed allowing you to select the format of the created file and the information you want to be saved.
Update File Listing...
This option allows will re-search your hard drive and update the file listing in all open windows.
